I am a licensed psychologist and have been in private practice for over 25 years. I received my Ph.D. from Temple University in Educational Psychology and completed a three-year post-doctoral clinical training program in family therapy.
My therapy approach recognizes the impact of our backgrounds and families – how we grew up, what we learned while growing up, what feelings and experiences of our own, or of our family members, have helped to shape us. In therapy, we explore patterns of feelings and reactions that may not be working in current situations. We work to modify the old patterns and work toward reactions that help us feel better about ourselves and our relationships.
In my work, I am an active participant in the therapy process. My treatment approach is eclectic, in that I use various therapy strategies, tailored to the needs of each person, including mindfulness exercises, insight therapies, and cognitive behavioral skills.
I have presented to community audiences of on a wide variety of topics such as: parenting and the internet, parents helping teens deal with teen culture pressures and body image, disciplining teens, ways to fight fair in families and general parenting concerns, eating disorders, helping young adults who are struggling with “launching” and ways to deal with social pressures in middle school.
